Description
This high quality internally regulated replacement alternator is the perfect alternative to the overpriced Bosch unit. AC Industries was the first to go overseas and work with a factory to make this line of alternators back in 2006. Since then we have sold several thousand units and have a better warranty ratio than the more expensive Bosch counterpart. You can buy this part with confidence! This part is rated at 55 amp and comes in a chrome finish. We have seen this alternator rated at 60 amps from some of our competitors, while we have tested this unit to this amount, it is not designed to be used at these higher amp draws.
Tech note: Alternator amp ratings are like horse power ratings on motors. If you try to run a motor at max horse power it will not live long. Same goes with an alternator. We recommend not to load your alternator consistently with more than 65% of the max rating of your alternator. So a 55 amp alternator x 65% = approximately 36 consistent amps. Your amperage needs will vary based on your car accessories. Look at the components of your car, start with the ignition, lights, wipers and move on to the radio, amplifier and all other electrical add ons. Total all of this amperage draw and compare it to the above formula. This will help you chose the right alternator for your specific car. Doing this up front will help eliminate potential problems in the future!
Installation Note: Will not work on cars with 36hp or smaller engine cases with fixed generator stands. Will fit Type 3 Fastback and Notchback with Type 1 (upright style) engine only. Will not fit Squarebacks or Type 3’s with pancake style engines. Will not fit Buses with Type 4 pancake style engines.
Application Note: Volkswagen converted to 12 Volt in 1967, however most cars prior to 1967 have already been converted to 12 Volt. Please verify your cars electrical system before ordering.
