I have a 1974 super beetle chassis # 1342691243 but the struts on it appear to be the 1972-3 type. I can only imagine the previous owner installed these? After seeing the pictures I’ve included could you advise what model of strut options you can offer that will fit.

Hi Byron,

After looking at your photo, I agree with your assessment. The strut, spindle, and lower control arm are from a 1971-5/1973 Super Beetle.  Due to this, you will need replacement parts from this year’s interchange.

To find these parts, you can go to socalautoparts.com and put in a 1972 Super Beetle on the filter, and the website will direct you to exactly what you search for in the search box, such as “Super Beetle front suspension”.
