When u install a new master cylinder do u need to have a residual pressure valve for drum brakes?

Hi Joshua,

Thank you for the question.  The simple answer is no.  Volkswagen never installed a residual check valve in the Bug, Super Beetle, Ghia, Type 3, or Thing braking systems.  This includes both drum and disc brake systems.
