Damaged Rotor Return

Hi,

I bought your Wide 5 complete front wide 5 kit for my 70′ Squareback through ISP. Alex over there contacted Andy on your team with the photos, and it was determined it was my fault and the only way this could happen would be installing the bearing race crooked. I used the correct tool and Ive done over 50 of these since 1997, I’ve never had a brake once. It was installed true. I have an ongoing thread on THESAMBA, most believe it was not machined to true specs.

This really needs to get swapped out for a good rotor and 1-bearing race replacement. I have it packed up and ready to send back to you or ISP. Again, this was installed true and straight, I am sure of that. Only allows one photo to attach here, I can send more.

Hi Phillip,

Yes, I answered Alex. As I told him, the problem is not the rotor; it’s the installation.  Even using your universal race installer set, the race must be installed straight.  The cocking of the race increases the diameter of the race, overstressing the iron.

I just looked, we have sold almost 4000 pcs of just this rotor part number.  Our last batch was 600 pcs.  I have 6 of these rotors remaining from this batch.  The problem is not the rotor.  These are machine to spec.

We offer the race install on all of our disc kits for 20.00.  Due to this, we are installing a lot of races here.  A couple of months ago, I was doing an install myself.  I got in a hurry, wasn’t paying enough attention, and cracked a rotor.  It can happen to any of us.

Sorry, but this is not a warrantable claim.

Thanks, Andy
