Hello Andy

I have a Case that has loose main bearing dowel pins.  Meaning that they can fall out readily.  Can your step dowel pins remedy that situation or should I trash the case.  If I use the step type what needs to be done to have them installed properly? Thanks

Hi Adolf,

Thank you for the question.  The step dowel pin, part # 111101123SP, was made to do exactly what you need!  The installer MUST take care in the installation to make sure you do not make the problem worse.

To do the install of the step pin, you will need a micrometer to measure the large diameter of the step pin.  IT MUST BE EXACT.  Next you must have the exact size drill bit to drill out the damage hole in the main bearing saddle of the case.  It is best to have a drill press to hold the drill bit steady.  This will also help control how deep you drill which is equally important to drilling the correct size!

Done correctly, this will fix your problem, and you won’t need to replace the engine case!!
