Wheel & Tire Fitment for ’73 Thing

I have a 1973 Things with stock suspension and stock wheels and tires. I would like to know what the largest recommended wheel and tire size I can go in front (I believe 215X75X15), then the largest I can go in the rear (I believe 235X75X15). I also want to use your white spoke wheels if they are as pictured (old-school Jackman style). I want to purchase the wheels first so I can have them painted. Thanks for your input.

Hi Andy,

Unfortunately, I unable to help you with your question, as there are too many variables and possible opinions in tire sizes, suspension setup, chassis clearance, wheel backspacing, etc. In addition to that, you can take six different tire companies, all with the same size tire numerically, and in a side by side comparison you’ll find that they are not all the same identical size.

Based on all the variables that I listed above, I cannot responsibly recommend a largest tire size for your car. There maybe some research and trial fitting required for you to get your tire fitment right the way you want it.

Thanks,
Andy
