Why isn’t the e-brake button threaded?
The hole that I am to insert the threads in for the ebrake is too small. It actually does not even look like it is threaded at all. If I have to tap this myself, can you tell me what size I need to tap this to? No where on your site does it state that I have to tap and thread this myself.
Hi William,
On all the plastic knobs sold by West Coast Metric, they do not come threaded. The plastic is designed to be soft enough and they are predrilled to the correct size to allow the installer to screw the knob, or in your case, the button, right onto the threaded shaft!
The main benefit to this is that the knob will be tight on the treads and will have a thread locking characteristic that will keep the knob in place.
To install the knob or button, simply properly align the knob or button to the threaded shaft and push the knob or button onto the shaft as you turn in a clockwise rotation.
Thanks, Andy
