Description
New 90 Amp Alternator with an internal voltage regulator, black finish. Sold each.
Tech note: Bigger is not always better! With more amperage comes more heat. Alternator amp ratings are like horsepower ratings on motors. If you try to run a motor at max horsepower, it will not live long. The same goes for an alternator. We recommend not to load your alternator consistently with more than 65% of the max rating of your alternator. So a 90 amp alternator x 65% = approximately 59 consistent amps. Your amperage needs will vary based on your car accessories. Look at the components of your car, start with the ignition, lights, and wipers, and move on to the radio, amplifier, and all other electrical add-ons. Total all of this amperage draw and compare it to the above formula. This will help you choose the right alternator for your specific car. Doing this up front will help eliminate potential problems in the future!
Installation Note: Will not work on cars with 36hp or smaller engine cases with fixed generator stands. Will fit Type 3 Fastback and Notchback with Type 1 (upright style) engine only. Will not fit Type 3’s with pancake-style engines. Will not fit Buses with Type 4 pancake-style engines.
Application Note: Volkswagen converted to 12 Volt in 1967, on 1966 and older cars that were originally 6vt, the buyer must verify that the cars electrical system has been converted before ordering. So Cal Imports will not be responsible for return shipping on wrong-ordered parts
