Description
New OE-Style Forged VW Pitman Arm, Fits 1966-1977 Bug, Ghia, and Thing. Sold each.
This New pitmen arm is made from forged steel and has a 24mm mounting hole where it attaches to the steering box and 12mm tapered holes for the tie rod ends. This part is black zinc coated to protect against rust. If you require the pitman arm mounting bolt, see part# 111415381A.
The greatest reason for pitman arm replacement comes from neglected maintenance with regard to the tie rod ends. Owners tend to not keep watch over the tightness of the tie rod end nuts and they begin to slop around, egging out the mounting holes. If your pitman arm needs replacing for whatever reason, So. Cal. Imports has the replacement arm for you. Sold each.
Note: When installing a narrowed front axle beam on a 1968 1/2-1977 Bug, Ghia or Thing, the steering stop bracket is normally removed. Due to this, the part that looks like a shark fin will need to be cut off. If you are using 12mm tie rod ends this is the pitman arm you want to use.
Installation Note: This pitman arm can be used on the 1966-1968 Bugs and Ghia’s only when you are using later tie rod ends with 12mm tips.
