One of the best upgrades you can do for your Bug, Thing or your Super Beetle (Kit #498496CF) is to convert the old drum brakes to disc brakes. This brake kit is so simple to install that if you can repack your own wheel bearings and bleed brakes, you can do this install yourself. There are no spindles to change, just remove the drums and backing plate and replace them with the supplied O.E. quality disc brackets. Install the new rotor and caliper and bleed the brakes. Yes, it’s that simple! We suggest installing new seals and bearings while you are at it, sold as separate kit (see below). This kit will NOT add to the wheel offset of the car.
This brake kit can be used to convert Thing front brakes to Chevy 5 x 4 ¾” and Ford 5 x 4 ½” pattern. You must use 15” or larger wheels. This kit will widen the Thing track approx. 1/4″ per side.

Installation Note:
- Requires 15″ wheels or larger. This kit will not work with 14″ or smaller wheels.
