OEM Quality, Stock Style Oil Filled Shock are specifically designed to work with front suspension applications. Made by COFAP, OEM manufacturer for VW of Brazil. Fits 1970-1979 all Bus.
Note: In 1968-1969, the base of the shock is narrower, and the lower mounting stud on the control arm is shorter. This shock will not work. The OG VW part number for these years is 211 413 031F. Cofap now forwards this part number to 113 513 031GBR(link). This part number is actually a rear shock for a swing axle Bug. We have checked these side by side to the original Bus front shock and have found that the Bug shock extension is about 15mm shorter. In our opinion, it will work fine unless the Bus has been raised.
